WREX - 'Sleepless'

From Brighton UK, WREX were formed in early 2020 out of a mutual love for music and positivity, and they announced themselves in May 2021. They have released 4 singles so far and have made a massive splash on the radio, with airtime on the likes of Kerrang! Radio, BBC Radio Wales, Planet Rock, ARFM, 2XS Rocks! Total Rock, BBC Sussex & Surrey (Introducing) Primordial Radio, Zack FM, and KISS FM (remix).

The new EP now sees the duo lean more heavily towards their alternative influences, and prepare to take the stage!
“Sleepless is about the feeling of being overwhelmed by society’s paradigms and recognising that these pressures can often be tricks of the mind – “the poison piece of my mind”. No matter how monochrome life can feel, you are not alone. No one should be bound by the ideals of others.” – Mae.

Mae Seaton (vocals)
George Donoghue (guitar, bass, vocals, drums, production).

Matt Springfield - 'Haunted'

POPLIFE! is the new EP by singer, songwriter, and composer Matt Springfield. The artist is fascinated by new wave culture of the decades that gave us U2, Bon Jovi, Muse, Depeche Mode and his favourites The Killers. Matt has related that “My goal was to write songs that could have been written in the 80s, with sounds reminiscent of the 80s, with a modern touch as well”. He has a five track EP which has been released with the support of crowdfunding from 1012 of his fans. Alongside them, Matt was able to call on the services of Andy Taylor (Bass/Guitar), Beth Gibson (keyboards – Things I ve Said), Nick Nasmyth (Keyboards – Poplife! & The End of Life), Greg Haver (Producer / Drums) and Peter Rainman (Programming -Things I ve Said). It’s been recorded at Modern World Studios in the UK and mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound in NYC.
The EP POPLIFE! is released by Akamusic in 2021.

Naimah - 'Whose side are you on?'

Being noticed by Billboard’s Editorial Director with only one song uploaded on Soundcloud isn’t an everyday thing for an independent artist, but when you combine a distinctly ethereal and powerful voice with visual lyrics that instantly pull you in — it makes perfect sense. Hailing from Washington, D.C., Naïmah radiates a seemingly effortless approach to her melodies and storytelling which sit in a soundscape of organic and electronic arrangements. Her style pays homage to a long legacy of Black musicians in country, rock, soul, and pop music. Fittingly, she was featured on Beats by Dr. Dre’s “Flowers for Black Women” on Apple Music alongside powerhouse artists like Nina Simone, Whitney Houston, Lauryn Hill, and Solange. Her music has also been featured in shows like the CW’s “Batwoman” and “Kung Fu”, and on numerous Spotify editorial playlists showcasing pop, indie, and emerging music around the world.

In 2016 she was a winner in the International Songwriting Competition and in 2022 she made the semi-finals. Among a long track record of performances, she has performed for Stevie Wonder and was an invited guest to the White House during President Obama’s administration.

Her influences range from the classic (Sam Cooke, Fleetwood Mac, Elliott Smith) to the current (Cautious Clay, Japanese Breakfast, Phoebe Bridgers), and her timeless lyrics focus on empowerment, hope, and reflecting on the journey of everyday life.

Nick Shane & The 121s - 'Green'

Nick Shane and his band, The 121s are a UK Mod/Punk/Indie outfit based in Dundee, Scotland. In 2021, Nick and the band managed to gain over 200k worldwide streams and downloads, and were featured on multiple Spotify and New Music playlists as well as radio stations worldwide.

Frontman Nick has been part of the Scottish music scene
for a number of years, gaining attention with a large Mod/Psychedelic back catalogue, and has been heavily involved in LGBT Rights Activism
over the past ten years. In 2020/21 he released widely regarded tracks
such as ‘Cloudy Monday’, ‘Youth & The Young’, ‘Valentine’
and ‘Stranger Times’, featuring Texas guitarist Ally McErlaine.
“A lot of the songs on the album were written up to 3 years ago, so it’s nice to finally get all of them out, as an album. Each single has been completely different from the last. ‘Wired To The Moon’ and ‘Hola Hello’ delivers a heavy Arctic Monkeys/Johnny Marr introduction, with ‘My Beautiful Mind’, ‘Green’ and ‘Nature’s Callings’ relaying a 90s Indie sound. ‘Fashion!’ gives us a more Bowie-influenced, 70s funk feel, before the mood is brought down with ‘The Invention Of God’ and ‘Reloveution In Our Head’. Then the mood is brought back up with ‘Your Eminence’ and ‘A New Decade’. There is a heavy focus on Eastern instruments and influences, like Sitars, Esrajs and dynamic Cellos, courtesy of Paul ‘Lefty’ Wright. The singles released in 2021 alone have already gained over 100k streams and downloads, and we’re also releasing ‘Wired To The Moon’ (Deluxe Edition), which includes all the album tracks recorded live at various studios around Scotland throughout Lockdown 20/21” – Nick Shane

Recorded by Nick Shane at Stage 2000, Strait Up Studios

Chris St. John - 'Hold On'

Chris McGuire

Hold on is a about the struggle we face in deciding whether to search for greener pastures or be happy with what we have.    The internal fight that takes place is laid bare in St. John’s story telling as is the conclusion he draws – “Hold on to what you’ve got/need; I believe in love.”

St John’s voice is velvety and clear on the album’s ballads, and heartfelt and rocking on the up-tempo songs. His tenor voice has remarkable range and clarity, and his different way of attacking his vocal parts on each track make it hard to believe it’s the same singer throughout the album. His voice has a uniqueness that pulls you in and makes you feel welcome, like he is your friend. His songs offer deep, thought-provoking timeless poetry. Though generally personal in nature, his material offers an ongoing, freewheeling celebration of the music he grew up on and which inspired him to work towards his goal, now coming to beautiful fruition, of becoming a recording artist himself. In addition to Simon, chief influences include The Beatles, Eagles, Cat Stevens and the Grateful Dead. St John’s songs are unique though, and it is hard to characterize the genre of his work.

Lost In Transition - 'I Got Something'

Hotter than a Peaky Blinders car boot sale, this powerful Birmingham UK based trio create an indie rock blues sound that, as the name implies, transitions between styles and grooves.

All contribute jointly to the song writing and vocals with each bringing their own musical twist to create explosive, catchy and memorable tunes.

Having recently played venues such as the Birmingham O2 Institute & O2 Academy they are starting to build a local following with their energetic live performances.

Petty Cassettes - 'Good Enough'

Petty Cassettes are an indie-rock band from Glasgow. Their songs vary from energetic tunes to mellow ballads. Neck deep in their origins, they are the soundtrack of choice for any party night. Influenced by different genres, the result is an explosive mix of upbeat-indie-rock songs and marching ballads, a song for everyone…a song to everyone!

The band finished 2021 strong with the release of 2 singles; Rydo & Julianne and Smells Like Teen Spirit, which put them firmly in the public eye receiving encouraging reviews and literally thousands of national and global airplay with the likes of Amazing Radio (UK and USA) and BBC Introducing supporting the releases. They ended the year performing at the legendary Barrowlands as support to Scottish 80s icons Hipsway.

Petty Cassettes hit the ground running in 2022 with their first sold out hometown show in March and have a number of shows already lined up for the remainder of the year (confirmed dates below).

“The constant feeling of not being “good enough” is what led us to write this song. Whether it’s as a band, in our workplaces or in relationships we’re always under the impression we should have done more and we could have been more than what we are. In the end it’s about accepting who we are. The driving riff of the song and the open chorus are statements to the fact; we should be more grateful for what we have and who we are, we should take time off from the impossible expectations that society builds around us, so be true to yourself and be loved for who you are” – Petty Cassettes
