From the deep heart of the Libertà district of Bari, Rhomanife has been a reality of music and hope since 1985. Gianni Somma and Pino Di Taranto, founders of the reggae band, have gone through over three decades of Bari underground, changing their skin in a journey that from ancient rock led them to Jamaican reggae rhythms and from the Apulian capital around Italy and beyond in Europe.
Starting from the biblical call of reggae culture, Rhomanife spread their convinced message of faith in pure music, far from official religious institutions and close to all human beings who believe in the values of love and peace. Here there is not just a musical group, there is not just a disc: there is a cultural project made up of hundreds of events organized over the years, dance halls open to all and famous for the quality of the music at a political price and for the extreme heterogeneity of the public.
There is the organization of concerts with guests from all over the world and the production of records. There is the sound system. There is a collective made up of musicians, singers, simple music lovers: in short, a family-crew. A laboratory in continuous progression. A group of people, friends, who for years have shared bread and convictions, extremely supportive within them and always open to the outside. Connect to the network of Apulian and Italian sound systems and groups that rage in the Peninsula. It is southern reggae in dialect, in Italian and English that tells, with musical and human experience, a precise life path. They are verses of songs almost prayers, recited with courage and honesty, which invoke the unity of the human race, hope for a messianic future of revival of the peoples and indicate a time of great changes that is now upon us. And when you visit the band in their rehearsal room, you realize it’s not just words. You understand that you are in a place where everyone is welcome, no one is a stranger and everyone will be granted the gifts of love, listening and brotherhood. And the universal right to live reggae music! Rhomanife translate the words of the Bible into music, prayer and hymn at the same time that drag upwards and into a dimension of broad truth.
Rhomanife, a band that has always been independent, has produced 4 CDs, many video clips and a tour that has never stopped since the beginning with more than 2500 events, concerts made in Italy and abroad. The band has also performed in: Spain, Malta, Italy, Hungary, Albania, 2 tours in the Czech Republic and Switzerland. Currently the band consists of: Gianni Somma vocals and guitar, Pino Di Taranto bass, Filomena De Leo vocals, Antonella Lacasella vocals, Carlo Ragno guitar, Francesco Bartoli drums.
