This project began after Andy listened to the band Get Cape Wear Cape Fly at Reading Festival in 2009, following which he decided that he wanted to pursue his musical talents and for his releases to be by a Pseudonym name rather than his own.
Anyone who knows Brain’s (as he is lovingly referred to by his fans and friends) music will quickly recognise the catchy and snappy track “Guitar, Keyboard Ukulele and Melodica”, a song which is usually performed with high energy and even higher levels of crowd interaction! Attending a Brain’s gig, you can expect to hear melodies you can sing along to, and backstories to tracks which have evolved over the last decade to define Brains For Breakfast’s signature acoustic / indie sound.
Over the past decade he has been a regular face at various venues across the West Midlands as well as playing further afield; he has arranged various UK tours, played a residency at a venue in Cyprus, toured multiple venues in Switzerland and arranged a European tour in 2019 for his “Under the Moonlight” single release with Swiss musician Tim Hensel.
Brains has released 4 EPs, a Ukulele Live Album to a small audience entitled “Uke-nited Kingdom” in 2015 he did a collaboration EP with Birmingham Rapper “Plain and Simple” and more recently an album “Under the Moonlight” released at the end of 2020.
He has supported and shared the stage with acts such as Mark Morris (Bluetones), Nizopli, The Sherlocks, Lucy Spraggan, Cast, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, The Luka State and The Rainbow Girls. Brains has also played with celebrities such as Spurs Legend Ossie Ardilles (playing Chas and Daves “Ossies Dream”) and had an excellent sign along with Shane Richie among many others!
Brain’s influences include: Frank Turner, Incubus, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, The King Blues, Twenty One Pilots, Blink 182.
